National Sports Day, celebrated on August 29, honours the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. It emphasizes the physical and mental benefits of sports like fitness, discipline, and teamwork, and call for increased participation in sports for a healthier future.
Sarasvis observed ‘Sports Week’ and organised class wise and house wise competitions for Primary students.
Tiny Sarasvis of Grade 1 raced with focus and concentration in the lemon and spoon race, and Grade 2 warmed up the Cone race as it develops physical skills like balance, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination, while also fostering cognitive benefits such as concentration and patience.
Followed by Grade 3 sack race, designed to be inclusive, where they were racing against each other in a display of enthusiasm. The laughter and cheers filled the air, making it a highlight of the week.
Students of Grade 4 had housewise langdi matches, a traditional Indian game which involved hopping on one leg to tag opponents. This game develops comprehensive physical and mental benefits, physical fitness, stamina, concentration, and teamwork among the students.
The week concluded with dodge ball match for students of Grade 5. This game provides an engaging way for children to manage emotions, reduce stress, and build confidence in a fun, active environment.
The National Sports Day celebrations not only promoted physical activity but also strengthened the sense of community within the school students developed sportsmanship, enjoyed friendly competition, and created lasting memories.
