Guru Purnima, also known as ‘Vyasa Purnima’, is a festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. The day is celebrated in remembrance of the Maharshi ‘Ved Vyaasa’, the creator of the epic ‘Mahabharta’. This year it was celebrated on July 27th.
We Sarasvis celebrated this occasion with a lot of ferrour. The students felicitated their Gurus [teachers] with the auspicious coconut, betel leaf and betel nut along with pen stands and cards crafted by them.
Class 10 prevented a little skit which showed the two sides of a Guru. There were Shloka recitals in praise of the Guru followed by exuberant dance performances.
The Principal and Vice Principal in their respective speeches thanked the students for their efforts and impressed upon them the significance and importance of Guru Purnima. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the school council members.
